... have a serious little challenge on my hands. As we speak the Alps are
also having problems at the moment with the weather. The lower parts are flooded
and the upper passes are snowed under so roads from all angles are closed.
Problem I now have is getting through there without having closed roads slammed
in my face every half hour.
I could stick to motorways and get to Amsterdam within two days but 1000
miles on m/way is just way too boring so i ...

We were depending on this for communication with friends and for bookings so we have decided to leave earlier and will move to Salzburg next Tuesday for 4 nights and then to Budapest for extra two days before the Danube cruise on the 19th. Yesterday we caught the bus to Spittall en Der Drau where we had some shopping success. Mary bought boots and we both bought winter coats so we are ready for the snow. Anyway, this kind young man even gave us plan B......if the bus at Klagenfurt was booked out, there was a train at 4.30pm for Venice. So there we ...

Dam just a short run from base and we passed some amazing waterfalls and arrived with not another person around - not a bad thing to be alone when you are stood on a glass platform at 200m. Back into Gmund for a look around the Porche Museum and town, quick bite to eat with a rather indulgent Iced Coffee.

Attempted the 35 km long Nochalmstrasse but the Austrian rain
had other ideas and mother nature sneaked in a rather chilly 2 Deg and at 2042 m high that is cold so back to Hochalmspitze for a chill.
