... grabbed it and put it in the holding area (no picture of this one). We continued to fish for a long time. We would get occasional bites, but nothing I could hood. Parker caught a nice piece of wood. Parker was starting to get discouraged. At about this time, we stopped for a few minutes and Douglas tried to catch a red snapper using a piece of line and a silver lure. He didn’t have any luck. We started fishing with our poles again, but I was ...
Mal Pais, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica mnasf... there must have been a trick to it (as there often is here in Costa Rica) as we had cold showers. The weather is so hot and humid, though, that it didn't feel so bad.
After a brief discussion, Nicole and I quickly agreed that we are not nature people and decided to find a different hotel. Our friends were staying at Suerre Caribe Hotel, closer to Puerto Viejo. Our driver had told us it was ...
... size before!
We ate supper at Maxi's, a restaurant on the beach. It had a very Caribbean feel to it. The food was really good. After supper, we braved the jungle again to return to our house. I jumped at every little thing I heard or any movement I saw.(Can you believe that, Jim?) I wasn't sure what might jump out at us!
The downstairs of our house is mostly open ...
... in line for single transactions, I noticed a sign that said that that window did not accept travelers checks. So, I went an got a number and with 12 people ahead of me, sat down and waited. When I got up to the window I handed the woman my passport and the gift check and told her I would like to change it to Colones. She looked at it, told me to wait, left her cube and spoke to someone in the back office, then came back and asked ...
Manzanillo, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica ricf964... friendly and spoke excellent English for those who did not speak Spanish. We had a woman in our group that was terrified of heights, but they worked with her so that she was able to do most of the lines. As part of the trip, we stopped at a waterfall to do some swimming and then continued zipping on. We didn't see any monkeys on the trip :-( but we did see some bats ...
Montezuma, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica ricf964... room with pillows and magazines! Tonight Sarah is going to attempt to make a nice Italian dinner - we'll let you know how it works out... Then tomorrow we're off to Santa Teresa. It is supposed to be beautiful! We're trying to make the most of our last week, can't believe it is almost here! We definitely feel lucky because some people only get one week to vacation, so we are quite grateful! As usual, hoping you're all well! xoxoBrandi and Sarah B
Montezuma, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica sarah_brody... hit the waves. The waves re bigger than Tamarindo, but smaller than Puerto Escondido, so great for us - and we are even standing on our boards after a bit of practice! The hostel is perfect for chilling while too hot to surf then back out before dark. By the end of the day my knees are completely battered with burns from popping up on the board and the odd rock or sand when i fall off! Friday we thought we´d keep the boards an extra day ...
Montezuma, Costa Rica lizzatwell... of waves and the like. We started on the right side of the sandbar and the current was noticeably moving of from left to right. There was not a strong undertow, but the water sure let its presence and power be known. Armed with the verbal knowledge of how to get up, ride the wave and balance, Michael was finally set to put theory into practice. Renny's only advice was to hop on the board and ride it straight to shore. No problem ...
Manzanillo, Costa Rica mikeandger... larry when we arrived in the Garden of Eden here in Guanacaste -165 million years old and still fairly untouched. The first part of Costa Rica to rise from the depths of the ocean and flourish life still retains it´s beauty to this day. After a nights stay in the roach infested unfriendly city that I won´t even bother to describe, San Jose, we finnaly arrived on our beach haven Playa Calettes. We have spent our days ...
Playa Caletes, Costa Rica glassman... bus stop to no avail....they wer not to be found. We drove all around guillones and nosara for a couple hours and couldnt find them. So we called her house and her roommate said yes they got on the bus....????? I told a jersey guy i met in the water our story and asked him to keep an eye out. He sped away on a 4wheeler as we headed to the beach. 1 hour later the 2 girls showed up at the beach. They missed the bus and had ...
