Busy morning to accommodate all the unpacked items so carefully arranged on the journey from Aachen. But alas I have an Uncle who passed away exactly a year ago to the day! His wife, Aunty Mia could hardly wait to welcome me so that I could go through the volumes of clothing – of outstanding quality and condition; too good for just anybody to wear – for me to try on and take to Australia. At 87 Mia is very active but showing signs of a shrinking world.

We tried to find some cheap bikes to buy at the camping site today but they were all too expensive and there were no small bikes for Sascha. We left the camp site, said good bye to our cousins and drove to an archaeological park in Xanten. It was a Roman settlement many years ago and I got to dress up like a Gladiator in the museum.
