The flying scotsman
... And I've learnt that it is poor form to tell a Scot that they have a small one, and likely to lead to Aussie-bashing. This is a favourite sport of the Scots, and has been in full flight on our tour. But seeing the surnames of the Aussie's on our tour were Melrose, McDonald, Ross and Imray it is a bit comical for them to be giving us a hard time when our Scottish ancestors opted to leave these fair Isles for the warmer, more agreeable climes of Australia.

... break, it was a bit chilly with a good breeze blowing and it was here that I enjoyed my “Big Bowl of Mountains” panorama. The Dresden kids headed back down and I had the view to myself for a bit.

... midnight. Literally. Finally poor Kevin said he was going to rest, but I told him I had to press ahead.
Note to self: if it has not rained in some time, the Ba River may be reduced to a mere trickle. About 6 PM I crested a hill and saw Kingshouse below. The Ba had been one of those tiny little streams back there, I had missed my peanut-butter break and was way ahead of where I feared I was. In fact, I was done!
