Well I finally organised my courses for this semester, I pray that they do not change for whatever reason otherwise I will explode. Here is a picture from my first class today.

Just a short blog entry for this day, as I'm falling behind and need to catch up. Our Turkish friends graciously drove us to Ankara from Corum so that we could catch our overnight bus to Cappadocia, and, along the way, they even took us to see the ruins of Hattusa, the capital of the very ancient Hittite civilization (existed around 4000 yrs ago, dating ...
... in the Chimney Valley of Cappadocia. The area is surrounded by old volcanoes and therefore there are some very interesting rock formations to explore. Long ago, the locals would carve into these soft volcanic rocks and make homes that need no air conditioning as they are a constant temperature all year round and some of them are quite elaborate for the time.

We left Ankara towards Istanbul in mid-afternoon, through more wintery hills and dales, and have now found ourselves camped out in a rest stop parking lot halfway to Istanbul. The weather remains lovely and brisk, but certainly warmer as we are near the Black Sea. We are expecting not much below zero tonight. On to Istanbull tomorrow, Insh’Allah!
