Today it was time to leave our tiny room in Germany and drive over to Austria. We decided to break up the drive and stop half way at Neuschwanstein Castle, which I really wanted to see anyway. ... on the way into Fussen to take photos of the Alps & Schloss Neuschwanstein. It is a spectacular sight perched high in the mountain tops.
We drive into Schwangau to find accomodation. We head to the information centre & Clint rings some places on the accomodation board. He finds us a gorgeous guest house on the outskirts of town. We were very comfortable. We ate at a nearby restuarant for dinner & slept well in our very comfortable beds.

... about 20 or so minutes just taking in this beauty I decided I was
going to stay here for the night and so went in search of a hotel.
This search for a hotel proved to be a hard job as there was simply nothing
open. Only after a few trips through the town did I find a small place that
rented out rooms which it was to be.
This little hotel was situated right under these massive Dolomites and the
photo opportunities were just magical.

... the bridge, where many of the iconic pictures of the castle are taken from. I was so excited I practically ran onto this bridge which was a little more rickety than I would have liked but I was out there for a while anyway! The castle was magnificent- it was stunning against the background of the mountains. I could have stayed there all day, and would have been happy.
