      ... the previous castle built 200 metres away,) and enlarged in 1635, it was sacked by Protestants in the later 1600s and left to rot. Almost no-one else there, a very informative ticket seller to fill in the history, we had a great time. Brilliant sunny day too. We were so lucky.       Tues. Went to reghed and had look around. Rohan went to football match Carlisle United. I went Out to pub in Stainton for dinner.       Time to fill, off work for the week before David's wedding and I needed to find something to do. Why not try that mountain I had said I would do 18 months ago. Skiddaw.       I left Windermere on the day that the tail end of the hurricane was blowing across the UK. The Windermere site had been very sheltered so overnight it felt quite calm but as I set off in the motorhome I soon began to feel the force of the wind.
