... a short tour of the middle lake.

Day 2. Another morning on the lake. This time to Lakeside and back. Very pleasant - and oh! what a beautiful day. We came home and changed to our shorts - first time in 3 weeks. Dressed in summery attire we took off to Orrest Head where we had a panoramic view of the lake. It was almost as good as Bariloche, Argentina. The whole walk took nearly three and a half hours, and it was wonderful. After a cool drink we ...

We got an early start (for us) and headed towards the Lake District. With only 45 minutes to get here, we had plenty of time to explore the area before heading to our accommodation at the Westbourne B&B at Windermere (a recommended accommodation by the Morecombe Tourist Information Centre). Arriving at Windermere we headed straight to the Tourist Information Centre, where we were given some information about walks in the area and gardens we could visit. We ...

We set off in terrible weather, hoping it would improve. We drove up the M6 past Carlise and found a site near Lochabie. Haddon Castle. A large site very spacious and well laid out in the castle grounds. Bar and restaurant and great showers. We pitched up and as it was raining we drove into the small town on Aanan for a beer ...
