... rooftop bar, with bath tub planted trees strung with fairy lights is right next door to Nomads and offers great backpacker discounts. Tuesday's offering is $1 pizza slices, a bonus as we could steer clear of the dreaded Nomads kitchen, and delicious to boot. Now that we finally have L's driving licence we are taking advantage of our freedom, hiring a car and heading out of Auckland to explore the Northlands to round off our ...

We enjoyed a late start on a wet morning and the city was quiet as can be as preps for a major event closed roads in the centre. Then the sun came out! Psalm Sunday began with a procession round St. Patrick's cathedral across the road and a full house for the Bishop. We had been invited to stay with Brian and Anne-Marie, just outside Auckland. Brian was away working on his ship but Anne made us very welcome. Yesterday we all went on a bus and then ferry to Devonport on the north shore. We then walked up to the top of Mount Victoria and were rewarded with great views of the city, the North shore and Islands. Good to try and get our bearings again in this lovely city.

Enjoying being back here and relaxing in the sunshine!

... and made us feel very welcome. We decided to have lunch here and got placed at a table with the most amazing views. We shared tapas- pumpkin hummus with baked flat bread, 3 cheese pizza bread, olives and a kale and pomegranate salad. Our meal was absolutely incredible and the glass of rose I had to accompany it was yum too! We have definitely been spoilt with our good and wine over here- it's going to be hard to go back to strict eating plans and exercise regimes! After enjoying ...
