People were dressed up everywhere like it was Halloween and we later discovered it was a carnival.       ... hostel, his parents treated the two of us and Hayden to a very nice dinner at a restaurant across the street from the hostel.       I had a really good sleep and felt refreshed after the rather tiring first day. I had a shower (hotel showers are just amazing) then went down for breakfast, there was a great selection of food that was a help yourself buffet ranging from a full cooked breakfast to a lighter continental choice or both if you were very hungry, I opted for a cooked breakfast, very similar to a full English but the bacon was cut really thinly, almost see through, the sausages were small ...

      ... during my journey did speak English very well but I did notice the further out you go from the city the less English people speak, on my visit to Kaiserworth I went to a local bakery to have some lunch and it was a quite difficult to make my order understood, by using hand gestures and pointing at products on display I got what I wanted and a nice smile from the lady serving.

      Time to turn in now and recharge my batteries.

      ... moved here and made the first Eau de Cologne (yes we bought some) and this was before the more famous 4711 cologne. There is also a Chocolate Museum (yes we bought some) on the river front from where it is a lovely stroll back along the river back to the boat.
