World Cup is going on right now, tonight is the Spain/Italy game and half the street cheers for one team, and the other half for the other team every time something half interesting happens (you know how boring soccer can be!)...but the cheering crowd and all the waiters running to the closest TV each time the crowd cheers makes for a really fun atmosphere. ... a night out in Monaco with the rest of the topdeck group. We went and visited the castle of the prince of Monaco, the church that Grace Kelly was married in and we went along the Grand Prix race track. We also went to the grand casino in Monte Carlo, there was so many flash cars there even more so then in Dubai! Unfortunately we didn't win anything at the casino but it was a bit of fun ...
Cloudy, constant drizzle in the morning and then a shower in the afternoon. 20°C
Up at 5 and left at 5:45 but unfortunately no breakfast, so we will use some of our packed lunch for that. It was dark until 7:15 (and sunset is about the same which seems weird) when we were just about at Amiens. It had been raining overnight and was light drizzle for most of the trip. Thank heavens for the GPS! We decided we were early enough not to use the toll roads which saved 20 mins. But ...
... into our room, three single beds! Winning! The ensuite is very average though, but does the job. We then headed around the corner to the main shopping street in search for the next Thomas Sabo store only to find there are no exclusive French charms.... I already have the Eiffel Tower! The Lisa's manage do find some clothes and shoes, I failed at this shopping but I think my wallet appreciated it, I still need a beach shirt though... Could be an issue ...
... go straight down to Toulon, and then follow the coast, have lunch in St Tropez, go through Cannes and aim at arriving in Nice in the evening. At first, I think I drove to close to the coast, because the roads where going through villages all the time, and there wasn't much to see. I then reset my GPS and tried a slightly bigger road. Wow. A truly kick-ass driving experience up in the mountains along the french riviera. No traffic ...
