I really enjoyed the busy city thouwabou and ...
Bangkok, Thailand resali... a walk and shop around but the area was somewhere I can not describe. Lots of homeless of people lying around and washing in the manky river, the smell was indescribable. However, we decided to get on the 'Taxi Boat' which the public use to get to parts of the city instead of by road, it was like a cattle market on the boat, only stopping for a few seconds at each stop so you couldn't be slow about getting ...
Bangkok, Krung Thep, Thailand rebeccamalcolm... for another day. We were pretty exhausted and "temple fatigued" so we ordered room service and an in-room movie. We watched “Observe & Report” starring Seth Rogen. I like most of Rogen’s work but this movie was absolutely horrible. Hopefully you will take my advice and not waste 2 hours of your life on this complete bust of a film. We had one full day left in Bangkok and two key objectives yet to be met: floating market and thai massage.
... journee. On loue des velos pour passer de temple en temple. C est magnifique et surtout il n'y a personne :-). De plus c est tres agreable de se balader a velo, les voitures s arretant tout de suite pour nous laisser passer. The owner of the guest house replied that it wasnt going to release it and that it was already dead and that now it was going to be skinned. We were mezmerised and as much as I didnt want to see a snake skinned I couldnt take my eyes away from the action. So we watched as the snake was hung up by its neck and skinned ...
Ayutthaya, Thailand emma_et_anthony... the Kingdom of Ayutthaya was conquered and completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. Ayutthaya, Thailand amazingthailandThe 3rd class local train from Bangkok was hot and sticky and we were both very glad to alight at Ayutthaya ('i-u-tia'). Ayutthaya was the capital of the Siamese kingdom that existed from 1351 to 1767 until it was invaded by the Burmese and there are ancient Wats (Budhist temples) throughout the city.
On our first day we had a gentle walk over to one of the earlier temples Wat Ratchburana, where many gold Budhas and other artifacts had ...
... it to the train with a fw minutes to spare to pick up our bags and then ended up waiting for ages because nothing in thailand seems to run on time.
The night train to Chiang Mai was surprisingly comfortable. Got a free beer as soon as I sat down. Spent an hour or so up, but then decided to get in a bit of sleep. Again, I was quite surprised at how good a sleep I got, but I think walking around all the temples that day had worn the both of us out.
... and boat shaped altar, and the throne hall where members of the royal family lie in state. Also saw the central throne hall from the outside. It's where important receptions are held -- heads of state receptions, APEC summits and the Miss World pageant. Our last pagoda!
Visited the temple of the reclining border. Pretty massive. Back on the bus, then another trip on the ferry back to the hotel. Hopped in a cab and straight off to the train ...
