... We did some more walking and came across the famous “Murano Glassmaker” factory. Yes, Murano is one of the islands off the island of Venice and it has more than one glassmaker – ie. Not just the Murano Glassmaker.

We awoke around 10:30 AM and made our way to a little café in Mestre. We had cheese gnocchi and also spinach and potato gnocchi. It was overpriced, so we decided to not go there again. Then we grabbed the train to venice, for our second day on the island.

Acqua Alta - is the term used for exceptional high tides that occur in the Adriatic Sea.

Generally they peak at over 1m and last for 3 days… they just happen to be occurring while Brett and I are visiting for 4 days!

Unaware of this, we were woken up on Saturday morning at 6am by an alarm ringing out over the city. I thought it was the ambulance and Brett thought it was some religious ceremony taking place.
