    We spent much of today walking the back streets of Venice - we were able to see what we wanted and keep to the back streets which meant not having to compete with the crowds from the two big cruise ships that were in port today. We have seen two ships leave port in the evening of each day we have been here, they are positively huge.     ... and maybe they have a very nice experience there. I felt there were too many tourists there! (But then again, being a tourist, I was also contributing to the problem. What can you do.) Needless to say, we didn't bother with the Basilica after that. I would have liked to have seen it, but I didn't want to go through that again!
