Kenai, (KEE ni) is Russian for "Cook Inlet." The Port of Kenai serves as a perfect vantage point to view the mountain range, Kenai Mountains.

Since we had 3 hours before our scheduled float plane pick up our guide took us to see a beautiful waterfall,  eagle’s nest, and he grilled us one of our freshly caught salmon for brunch.  Then it was back to watch the bears and the other fishermen catch their salmon until our float plane arrived. The Marsh was ...

... flight took us over Soldotna, then Kenai and Cook Inlet to Wolverine Lake in about 30 minutes. Takeoff and landing on the floatplane was smoother than I thought it would be.

A small fishing boat was waiting for our arrival. The people and gear on the boat were leaving so we had to get off onto their boat as they got on the plane, all while the boat was tied against the float plane in open water.

Once the transfer was complete, we ...
