Day 19: We arrived in Gili T around 11am after an early start to catch fast boat. We checked in to Aqua-addiction where we are staying for the rest of the trip in Lombok. The rest of the day was spent at the beach lounge where for 100,000 rupiah a bed this included a voucher for drinks and great ice cream nom nom :D! We swam in the sea but feared slighty for our bikinis so a swim in the pool with a swim up bar was a safer bet! Later we enjoyed a nice fish ...

... road from the hotel, partly because it was easy if Nengah turned up early and also because they had 'Crispy Dack' not having tried Dack before we thought we'd give it a go. Big mistake. Liek they say go to the popular restaurants not the empty ones. The meal took ages I think they had to catch the dack, but at least it gave them time to to send someone out to buy a bottle of wine. Unfortunately it had never seen a fridge and an icebucket was ...

I left Gili T to catch the 7:30am boat to Lombok to start my Mount Rinjani adventure. Like most other Indonesian bookings, there is no set check-in plan and you have to go with a lot of faith that someone will actually be there to take me on my tour. Thankfully when I got off the boat there was a man there calling out for "Mr. Kim". Close enough. I was partnered up with a 25-year old Brazilian man that had spent 9-months living in India and was now taking the next 3 months to ...

... read extortion) box. It was cute, until we saw it every night afterwards down the main drag as various competing groups got in on the action. Enough restaurants currently tolerate the practice to make it worthwhile, but hopefully this will taper off when they find something new to exploit. With a slight sense of mourning we leg a ride back to the hotel, relieved that the foodie family we met last night didn't actually show up based on our recommendation. Munchie ...

    Snorkel, sunburn and Shisha

... resting on the sun lounges for a while we headed back to our room. Sunburn creeps up on you in Gili T. It hit us by 1pm the first full day. Back to our room to recover and before you know it, it's dinner time. Along the beach there is a spot we had earmarked for a cocktail and a Shisha pipe. 'Horizontal' a bar/restaurant/hotel built on double entendres. 2 for 1 cocktails (genuine ones where they remember that was what you ordered) should not be sneezed at. 30 mins puffing on ...
