      ... onto number 2, and had the place to ourselves. This area is in the state Forest, the facilities are only drop toilets, no water. (all we needed though). Lovely area, plenty of room this time of year.

      Our first night here, we got out our music, had a great camp fire, cooked with the camp oven for our dinner, Thai Chicken Green curry and vegetables, cooked it with the coals for about 1 hour.

      ... me the most. It was the wooden gutters between the roadway and the footpath.

      Down on the docks, paddle steamers were moored, some taking passengers and heading off along the river. Nearby were two thriving thong trees. The day was overcast with a thunderstorm predicted so unfortunately the photos are very dark.

      ... tour guide was very informative and gave freely of his knowledge. We then walked up to the hotel on the corner which I can remember visiting with the girls all those years ago.

      The wharf is currently undergoing stage 2 of refurbishment and it is being done extremely well. It will look like a street from 1857 with the railway, blacksmith, hotels etc when it's completed.

      From there we moved to a site in Echuca for 3 nights. It is a good site with a lovely pool which we needed this afternoon as the temperature reached 38 degrees. Echuca, on the Murray River, became the largest inland port of Australia in the mid 1800s (just a thought, were there any other inland ports?) as the wool from the surrounding areas was brought here and loaded onto steam paddle boats to be taken to Melbourne and then ...

      ... big 4 caravan parks were booked out we decided to push on to Geelong. It was cool and blowy when we arrived but before we went for a walk on the pier finding accommodation for the night was our first priority! We found the info centre and a lovely gent Ian found us a cabin straight away so we were very grateful, it was not too far away and seemed easy to find phew. I do not like going with the flow and this is the first time I've holidayed ...
