    11/11 Corfu

We left the ship late and spent some time using the Port's free wifi. We were heading to the bus stop to take a bus into town when we ran into an enterprising taxi driver. He was waiting at the bus stop instead of in the line of taxis looking for €100 fares to tour the island. He offered us a €10 trip to the historic district and the same back. We found ...

We passed a busy restaurant where people from 3 cruise ships were enjoying the sunny patio, and found I 5 Malti, which I determined to be the 5 malts, confirmed by the small sign that said brew pub. However, it was Sunday and we have found that wherever we have been in Europe the traffic has been very light ...

... to Italian churches. We then drove to Achilleion Palace which has beautiful gardens and classical statues overlooking the coast. This was built by and Austrian empress in the late 1800s - and it really was very beautiful. During the war it was used as a hospital and later as an orphanage before it was restored for tourists to view. We drove through the main town and by this stage it was so wet we decided to return to the ship and warm up and have ...

... 8217;t have seatbelts on. We had an Albanian coffee at a local’s house along with a traditional lunch and climbed up the start of a day trek into the mountains. The scenery all around was breath taking and it was nice to be walking again.

Carrying on south we stopped in the city of Shkroda to stock up and see their castle. After only a few minutes of driving we knew we wouldn’t be heading to ...
