... ran up to me and asked in perfectly practiced English: "Can I take a photo with you?" I have never been in a country where I am regarded as this different and I was uncomfortable with it at first, but now I take the opportunity to find out something about the locals, so eager to make contact. It was clear that Banyuwangi doesn't get many tourists passing through. While walking through a small market we had a group of small children running after us, smiling with glee when we ...

... up on some sleep. Saturday we all went shopping and then cooked food at home, me and Anna bought amazing salads from a big supermarket in the area as we've been craving a decent salad for so long now!!!! Saturday night us four girls went out again. First stop was sky bar, which is a very posh and expensive bar overlooking the city centre of Jakarta and had amazing views... Of course an occasion we all had to dress up for ...

Several carry bags and hours later our amazing driver finds us to begin the longer journey home.. crossing from the north , through the city centre to our home in the south takes a long long 3 hours..plenty of time to recall the days activities, see the passing suburbs, the thousands of "mozzie" bikes buzzing by and relax!! as it is Indonesia, that is all you can do.. thank heavens for car aircon and music!!

Cut a long story short, in the very end it all got sorted but like I said; half the day had already gone. With my estimation being correct, it seems I'm getting a hang of this Asian thing.

dealt with my accommodation in the popular Bali area of Kuta beach and I was done. Headed ...

... shivering under blankets. We arrived in Jakarta at 5 in the morning, spent an hour in the train station planning where we were going next, half an hour traipsing with our bags looking for hotels and being told they were all full then 3 hours sitting outside a 7/11, eating donuts and trying to come up with another plan before booking something online.

          - We tried to get into Monas, the giant tower in the middle of the city 3 times and failed everytime! The ...
