Martine drove us through the Pyrenées into Spain, this morning. We explored San Sebastián and then had tapas for lunch. It was fun to try out our Spanish. We found a great ice cream shop and also bought some souvenirs. From there, we went back into France and spent some time in Saint Jean de Luz. This town is famous because it is here that Louis XIV married Eugenie of Spain, forming the Peace Treaty of the Pyrenées. Lastly, we went to ...

After an initial communication problem we enjoyed a yummo breakfast ...

... 60 euros a night. That didn't include breakfast but it did have a great restaurant.
Our Parador was at the base of the mountains. The bedroom looked out on this vertical rock face that's so steep it's popular for base jumpers. The cowbells and smell of cowshit created a nice rural feel. The top of the mountain was accessible by the teleferico or cable car. A return trip cost 16euros but we decided to walk home via the Puerto De Aliva route. It drops over 1000 metres, ...
