Clara an her dad picked me up from the airport that afternoon. They have a beautiful house! The only Brazilian house I've visited so far. (Not counting the favela house) most people in Rio live in apartments. We had rice and this yellow stuff which wasn't bad for dinner. Me and Clara caught up a bit on life and she had to go to bed early for school which starts at ...

So from the original "urban jungle" itself to the beautiful jungle island of Isla Grande, translated literally Big Island. The island is located just off the coast of Rio state and was roughly a four hour bus journey with Costa Verde. I told him to take us to the best beach, so he turned left into the parking lot of the Praia Grande. It was a lovely little beach, getting it's name only because it was the larger of the two adjacent beaches. There were five concession stands selling everything from fresh coconut water, in ...

... We were planning on having Mexican food but the only restaurant open and serving food at 12:30 was the Birita bar. We ordered from their menu and the food we received was in such massive portions there was no way we could have eaten it all. While we were waiting for our food to be served, a young girl about 5 or 6 and a woman who seemingly was her mother, approached our table on the outer edge of the sidewalk patio and asked for money or food. ...
