... the initial gasp upon entry, I couldn't make a sound for the 20mins we were inside. The ceilings and walls were painted with spectacular frescoes that surely rival those of the Sistine Chapel, every alcove contained a beautiful ebony and gold shrine and the pulpit, almost entirely covered with gold, shone with raw magnificence. ... obligatory postcards (one for mum which i have to hand deliver!) and exchange stories. We left for Ljubljana on the 29th of May using a little bus company called DRD. It took us from Mestre (mainland Venice) to Ljubljana through flat plains of Italy, then through the green forest hills of Slovenia. On arriving in Ljubljana we strolled around the streets and got a cheap feed (kebab).
