    ... we felt it sensible to "park off". Sticking to the back roads and keeping as close to the lake as possible in hope of finding something led us to Dalyan. Dalyan is famed for its tourist attractions most of which are reached by boat taxis.


    The turtles at the river mouth, the mudbaths and the Kaunos archaeological site being some of the more popular stop overs if one takes a day tour.

    No campsites were obvious ...

    ... We have sampled local food in several places and particularly enjoyed The Mermaid – a seafront restaurant with a roof top seating area and a brilliant maître d and side kick. The food was great too.



    Serife has her restaurant on a shady vine covered veranda off the main street into town.

    She makes amazing pancakes in a wood fired oven and has other local dishes. A simple but adequate basic menu is on order ...

    ... and enjoyed sampling the various dishes accompanied by the most succulent rice and noodle mix. I am dying to buy some of the noodles – they look like pine nuts – a try for myself. The lamb in the clay pot was rather like an exceptionally tender and tasty “potjie” complete with vegies. Serifeceremonially poured it out of the pot and gave it a final ...

    ... of guidance, and did a pretty good job. Mind you, she did have a bit too much faith in the capacity of that poor case! The clothes, which were neatly arranged it has to be said, were some six inches above the top of the case, the lid of which was never gonna get anywhere close to being able to be zipped up. Fortunately I came to her rescue and put the overflowing offenders in my case, which amazingly still had some space left after I packed my own stuff. ...
