When I look at the world....

... the spelling) direction. Lauren & Alex will miss most of Grade 3 & 2 respectively, but we hope that despite what they'll miss in the classroom, they will learn valuable life lessons while travelling.

We've been thinking about making this trip for several years now, but it was earlier this year that we started to crank the planning up a notch - When exactly should we leave? How long to go for? Where should we go? What ...

Drove through Edmonton

Today was a long day...10 hours of driving, but 12 hours by the time we got to the hotel. One more day about the same distance, then it's two 11+ hour days back to back.

VERY boring drive...lots of farmland and just flat land in general. Not much to look at. Tomorrow we should be ...

A quick morning

... to stay at the hostel because I needed to experience a Canadian hostel before the end of my trip. I arrived at the hostel at 7 am.  I got a spot almost immediately and the guy working behind the desk told me where I could use wireless and how to get to my room.  Each night at the hostel will only cost me $29 dollars.  I went into the commons lounge and wrote out everything I wanted to see that day.  Then I put my bags in secure storage and headed out into what was now rain to catch a ...

... is always entertaining with so many people haha. Staying in the hotel again for a night was also great, I was in a room with Czarina, Teiha and Cindi this time, and we had music going for ages and we were just having a good time and everything. I was actually surprised we didn't get a noise complaint! But I guess we didn't really stay up too late because again we had to get up early the next morning.

Driving back to Edmonton

We left at about noon-ish and made our way to Edmonton in Keith's giant red truck. Halfway there, we stopped at the farmous Burger Baron just because it looked hilarious. And it was. There was a lady who clearly had a very keen (we found out later, family) interest in the fine establishment. While I was in the washroom, I heard a very loud kerfuffle outside. Keith's ...

Departure in T-Minus 15D

... anything about Lyon. Then, we're off to Rome, with a quick stop in Nice. Expect a lot of pictures of Rome. Then, off to the warm (I hope) beaches of Ischia! We'll try to keep images of us with no shirts to a minimum. While attempting to not get robbed in Naples, we'll be wandering aimlessly around the streets for a day while we wait until it's time to go to the airport ...

Preparations

... The only thing left to do is prebook a hostel room in Delhi so I'm not blundering around in the middle of the night (I get in around 10 pm) looking for a place. Now that I'm ready to go, I'm wondering, why did I choose India again? I could have gone to Poland, where I'd blend in, have all my familiar comforts around, and have a nice happy as-quiet-as-I'd-like vacation. This sounds great right ...

Letting go to grow

... decision is not all for naught. And congrats to both of you for becoming one of my most inspiring couples to watch grow together. I also have to say that my mom and dad are pretty amazing. Even after all that fighting, and extreme nastiness, they found a way to work it out. After 10 years apart and a messy divorce, they were loyal to each other all the way. They are now remarried and seem to be practicing the very difficult act of forgiveness on a daily basis. Wow. Thanks for ...

Winter is dying and I am growing

... He is trying to kill us then? All this time I was thinking it was my imagination." "Oh no," Ms Fit and Firm reassured me with a laugh. "He is one of the **********es here. He sure does test us, that's for sure." I went on to have my best class yet. I reached new levels on three of my poses. During locust pose which is my least favorite partially because seem to have made zero progress from day one, something happened. I was grudgingly lifting again for the ...

Arrive in Oil Country

... U Calgary, so it might help my decision making. That and I couldn't arrive in Edmonton before Steve was home from work at 6, so I had some time to kill. Downtown Edmonton is an exciting city with lots of tall buildings, shops and people bussling about. The city is relatively young (although 100+ years) so the city planning is much more suited for traffic flow than back east. Major streets are split into 2 one-way throughfares with 3 ...
