... boiled egg, waffles, jam and Nutella, plus coffee and juice. I don't know how they do it. After leaving our gear in our room, we set out to explore Sofia. I couldn't find the cafe that the Hostel girl had recommended, buy Squirt had spied McDonalds and was desperate for a cheeseburger, so I gave in. Burgas yesterday, we went out to Nessebar which is outside Burgas. A lovely old area and worth the visit. Now in another city in Bulgaria, the second largest city. We decided to walk around ourselves as we are churched out.

Off to Sochi tonight, can't get off ship in Russia unless we are on a ship excursions, well we have money to burn.

Happy Birthday Mark for today.

It was unearthed the late 18th century by Bulgarian immigrants in the area but somehow ended up in the Viennese Museum of Art History. Although many nations claim the treasure as their own, it says something that a state copy (also known as sole precise replica) was made of ...

... but have a sizeable streak of bare rock running along just below their peaks (possibly karst - not sure though). These hills are separated from the main part of Veliko Tarnovo by the River Yantra, which looks very far below us. I haven't been down there yet. To my right is another hill, this time with Tsarevets Fortress on top of it - I've decided to visit it either tomorrow or on Thursday. I look forward to exploring Veliko Tarnovo; I think I have definitely landed on my feet ...
