    ... who had warships in the harbor and were bombing the island. Venizelos was the politician responsible for making Crete a part of Greece in 1913. There were beautiful views of the town from this hilltop. There is a small church there which was rebuilt with funds from Csar Nicholas the II.

    ... village - it doesn't get more organic than that.  I ended up sitting with a couple from Cypress because there was no room.  Although we didn't speak much, they didn't know much English and I know no Armenian, they did share their food and I finally tried goat - and it was so tender and so juicy.  They also had a tomato, zucchini and pepper stuffed with risotto, cheese and herbs, drenched in olive oil.  I had baked zucchini, eggplant and potatoes with cheese ...

    Eat - going in, I decided I was going to eat Greek food in Greece, Spanish food in Spain and Italian food in Italy.  Last night, I sat at in a highly rated restaurant Tamam, and turned to the server and asked, what do you recommend?  He said his favorite...the rabbit.  My response, "what is your second favorite?"  He replied, "the baby goat."  Immediately, I said I will take the rabbit!  So dinner last night was rabbit.  It took some serious ...

    Our first few days were taken up with-relaxing by the pool, grilling in the traditional Cretan BBQ on the terrace, lounging with the neighbor cat, listening to the goats next door, appreciating the view and catching up on family stories.
