After a late night, this morning we had a leisurely breakfast and relaxed before heading out again after lunch.

... Peterhoff Palace with all the gold leaf and the church with it's 100m high central dome. Palace was where Peter the Great lived and also Catherine the Great lived afterwards. Gold leaf everywhere throughout the palace and even in the gardens. What we have seen of St Petersburg so far indicates that a lot of buildings and open space is very unkept. ... Monday there were only tour groups, with Irina letting us know that we were very fortunate as it would be no where near as crowded as on a regular day.
