... bridge to survive World War II) over the Arno River. The jewelry shops that line the bridge are still owned by descendants of the original owners from the 15th century.

After completing our walk, we hunted our notes for a fun place to have dinner on our last night in Italy. We found just the place at Il Latini. The wait staff does their best to not hand out any menus, and they basically give you whatever they feel like ...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy harrisons... was a full hour and nicely walked us through the entire structure. (Note to travelers: you can buy tickets to the Colosseum at the bottom of Palatine Hill and there isn't a line! It's a little secret!) The tidbits of knowledge Rick provided were fantastic: we saw the remnants of the elevators used to lower and raise set changes/people/animals on & off the main floor, the thumbs up/down the crowds used to vote on whether someone should ...
Impruneta, Tuscany, Italy harrisons... time. It was funny actually, the only thing I remembered was when I went down to the toilets, which are underground. I got down there and suddenly I remembered being there before, with mum and Caroline. The queue for the ladies had been huge and then, when we finally got a cubicle, we discovered they were those funny toilets which are basically like a flushing hole in the ground that you have to squat over. I remembered being shocked by that when I was little. So ...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy hannahfoster... one looked friendly. I get this little feeling in my stomach, a little black pit growing. I think, "Oh my god, I don't feel welcome here in Firenze. I am stuck here for one month in this city of unfriendliness and rudeness". If I had been standing anywhere else for the past 40 minutes, say Lecce or Siracusa, I'd have probably said "buon giorno" at least 20 times by now and feeling so happy. It is a beautiful day in Firenze, I am in Firenze and I am feeling sick in the stomach.
Firenze, Tuscany, Italy conmeister07... on the next hill. Drove all around the countryside (which I hate to say is much bigger and impressive than Napa). Wine is so cheap and good but unfortunately the majority of grapes had just been picked. Also ventured into Florence for two days of sightseeing. This is one place that is as magnificent as tpublished pictures!
Florence, Tuscany, Italy pathenger... or home cooked with the groceries we buy at the market down the street. We had our friend Matt "Alaska" over last night and made ourselves a pizza, which was AWESOME. Nothing fancy- we just bought dough, mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil and prosciutto and threw it all together with a bottle of vino rosso for a night to remember.

Classes also started this past week, and it's been really interesting digging into the language - our professors teach ...

Florence, Tuscany, Italy suz123nj... Shoppers, those do not exist. But we went to STANDA which is the closest thing they have to a large grocery store and plus it is the only one open on Sundays (turns out Sundays are a convenient day for us to go). The fruit here is DELICIOUS! (Dad I know you would appreciate it ) And it is basically just a much smaller version of grocery stores in America. Food in Florence is very inexpensive by American standards. My roommates ...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy clione... It was good, but Interlaken still has it. I also had some veal last night and I felt terrible after I was done. It was a baby cow, now it's in my stomach. Anyway, long story short, Firenze is as cool as it's name. It's the home of the Renaissance and I'm feeling revolutionised. I miss everyone already, I'm such a sucker, not as brave as I thought I was. I can't wait to get to Scotland. JOHNSON OUT
Florence, Tuscany, Italy jimbojohnson... perspectives that need to be viewed specifically: The strength of body and the strength of mind. The strength of body is shown when you are looking at the statue head-on. It shows the definition of muscle that men have been trying to achieve ever since the creation of the sculpture. I heard that Michelangelo took the most attractive parts of many men in Florence as his inspiration for the shape and contours of the body - a thigh from one guy ...
