    Reasonably priced, well located

This appears to have been an apartment building during the Communist era in East Berlin. Although spacious enough, my room was very oddly shaped, being about 7 feet across and 20 feet long. The washroom was the same. Prices were reasonable and being a 5 minute walk from the Alexanderplatz (central transportation hub) makes it great for getting around.

    Auf Wiedersehen, Berlin

This was to be my last day in Berlin, and I decided that I wanted to see some art. That doesn't happen often at all, and it usually doesn't last long, but it happens. I don't have the attention span required to appreciate art in the way that some people can. That being said, sometimes trying can be fun.

I decided upon the Gemäldegalerie …

I woke up the next morning and things were already looking brighter in more ways than one. For the first time since my arrival, the skies were crystal clear and the temperature was livable. I'd get to see some outdoors stuff. Yay!

Taking a queue from my time in London, I opted to try out the NewEurope (free) tour of Berlin, as I had …

I woke up and boy did I feel a lot better. I'd slept the cold right out, or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof. The weather was still cold and raining, so I pledged to hit the museum. I packed my day bag, grabbed some random (Mmm.... random) cheese and cold cuts and a little roll from the breakfast buffet and hit the road.

    I arrived …

The day broke grey and drippy,. which is pretty much how I was feeling. Definitely a cold. Serious lack of energy, but I couldn't let that stop me from seeing something of the city. I forced myself out of bed and out into the drizzly day. My first stop was Alexa, the shopping plaza across the road from the Alexanderplatz, where a tourism office is …

I had to get up at the crack of insane o'clock to make my train out of Ieper. I felt so guilty, clattering down the cobblestone streets towards the train station at 4AM with my roller bag. I tried my damnedest to clatter silently and I think I did a pretty good job. The station was surprisingly full. I leveraged all three words of Flemish that I …
