This trip has brought pretty much all what has to be experienced in a worldtrip. And it is eventually an example, that anybody can do anything, or can go anywhere, if one just believe in it.
But a journey like this would never be possible without help of others. And therefore

I got up early after another rough night. Three is the magic number. Once again the other backpackers were up midmorning making as much racket as they could, I swear to god I was going to blow that giggling woman's head off if she didn't shut up. It wasn't our dorm that was the problem. The issue was that the walls were paper thin and the floorboards creaked like thunder. Nevertheless, there was no courtesy.
I took a short walk into the fringes of the ...
... would pray before a battle, and I suppose give thanks after if they were in the condition to. That was pretty cool. It was at the bottom of a slope in the middle of a privately owned field covered in cow patties. It was like a mirage; crumbling stone pillars and massive bricks rising above the steamy grass in a meadow that seemed never ending.
After that we really could not handle any more heat so we headed back to the blissfully cold car and made our way home.
Day trip from Villingen. Wolfach has a factory cum tourist attraction where they blow the glass manually. It was good to watch them making vases etc. in the traditional way. The highlight for me was dobbing Roz in to get up on the stage and blow her own vase. She did a good job, and we bought the vase and brought it home. A very special souvenir.
Wolfach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandrozHome of the world famous Hubert Herr clock factory. Met Reinhard Herr, Hubert's great grandson, who still owns and runs the place. The clocks are still handmade and handcarved in the traditional designs. They even make their own clock movements. Spent an hour or so talking to the gentleman, and he explained ...
Triberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandrozJust a day trip to see this old city. Lots of brightly painted buildings with ornate oriel windows. Most of the windows were carved with scenes or fancy designs, sometimes painted, sometimes both. Lots of fountains and statues. Found a chocolate shop and pigged out.
Schaffhausen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland danandroz... Got the wobbly boot on after a few after-dinner beers and a couple of Jagermeisters. Strolled around town for a while just looking, and happily never lost my footing in the snow or on the ice covered footpaths. Did do a couple of tap dances, but didn't go down.
tittisee, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandroz... with costumes and masks and bands. Damn near froze standing still for that long, but I had a good vantage point for the pictures so I wasn't going to move for fear of losing my spot. After the parade we got stuck into the gluhwein and some hot food then went back to the hostel for a hot shower, then out for dinner. We went to a local brewery that had a restaurant incorporated and had such a good time that we made it a regular while we were there.
Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandroz... to confuse. The kids and dads were having a great time. We had lunch in another kebab type place. We had a pide each. An enormous bread roll filled with the most disgusting sausage and garlic mixture. Pure stodge. It had cooled down a bit so jackets were donned as we returned to the car hidden away in a covered car park under a bank. I wanted to go to Rotweil to the kennels but because we had lots of time we decided to go to Freiberg instead. It was a beautiful drive to ...
