      ... you can't select the boat since they come in like Taxis one at a time, serving the line waiting to get on.  We make our guess and then in true European style, jam into line.  Min gets her exact boat and off we go.  The Gondolier was friendly, pointed out historical land marks we didn't realize we were passing, and Min got her shots and the ride was mostly through small canals which makes for better pictures with one quick ...

      A very wet day as forecast so very glad we got the long journey out the way yesterday as the sea state looks very choppy today. After a trip to the airport to clear in and become legal we take a hire car and head to Grada. An old town in the flats that we had thought about sailing to but given the weather we thought better to go by road!       ... writing with one back in Venice a few days later, and it wrote like a dream. The ink you dipped the glass nib into lasted many, many lines, unlike the pens you needed to attach the metal nibs onto.
