... br> We walked to the Basilica de San Francisco el Grande to see its magnificent dome and an El Greco painting. The church was closed until 5PM. We were a bit cranky since it was 35 degrees C out. We walked to the bottom of the hill commenting how glad we were to not be going uphill to catch the Hop On Bus. The Hop On Bus passed us by so we walked back up the hill to the next bus stop which turned out to be across the street of the Basilica.

... a little too much and we didn't enjoy it quite as much. Today we visited the cathedral at Santo Domingo, AKA the Chicken Church. Legend has it that a pilgrim in midieval times was wrongly accused of theft and he was hung. His parents mourned him and continued on to Santiago. ... suits us better to have a big lunch than dinner.

After the big meal, I needed a kip to wear the wine off. Debbie went to the shops. We then took an evening stroll to help burn off the lunch. The weather was so alluring we could not help but stop in one of the multiple squares for another drink and tapas. We met Diana's friend Maria Lousa (marr-e-a-Lu-sar) (Spanish version of Melissa) and went to Primark, a massive shop on the other side of Madrid. It was basically Target but super, super cheap! It was in an amazing shopping centre with full glass roof and trees growing inside and you really did feel outside - minus the cold - because it was so so bright.
They had a massive range of clothes, shoes, bags, underwear, sunglasses, accessories ...

After all of that inspiration at the Prado we had the lovely accident of see a bride entering the church next to the museum. We stayed for a while along with other onlookers marveling at the stylish young people attending the ceremony. Their dresses and hats were exquisite.

After a while gawking we decided to hop on the tour bus again to see a bit more of the city. This morning we took route number two ...
