    ... where, at least in theory, we understand most of what is written on the labels. And the prices will come as something of a shock after Poland. (Strangely enough though, wine in restaurants is very expensive in Poland. You can't get a bottle of fairly ordinary plonk for less than about £20, better wine significantly more. We stuck to beer which is dirt cheap. And pretty good.) We like Poland. If only they could fix the roads. And the driving. Mileage 4451. ...

    ... the traffic melted away and the road improved. Still lots of 200m long speed limits for things like bus stops and road junctions, often backed up by speed cameras. This played havoc with average speed and fuel consumption, but at least the suspension didn't suffer too badly. Strangely, there were no laybys or parking spots, so at lunchtime we pulled in in front of a hotel and restaurant and ate in their car park. Or was it part of the public road? Who knows?
