      ... was our visit to Petra. Amazing site where Indiana Jones was filmed. I liked it better than any of the sites in Egypt but I wonder if some of that is because Egypt sucks and their sites suffered in my opinion because of it! Did I mention Egypt is a terrible country? That night we stayed in Petra town and went for a local meal and a few drinks, to celebrate a birthday for one of the group. The bar we visited is housed in a cave that dates back 2000 ...

      ... different places. The first was Lawrence’s Spring where there is a natural spring as a result of rain being absorbed by the limestone layer, but when it hits the granite layer which isn’t absorbent, it flows out as a spring. Next was at a gully between the rocks which we walked into. There were figures & Arabic writing on the rocks that have been dated back over 2 or 3,000 years.

      Further on, we stopped behind a rocky outcrop which was on the leeward side ...

      ... woven loosely to allow ventilation in the heat of the day, but which swells up and becomes waterproof with rain or dew.

      We stop at one of these camps for lunch of the Jordanian national dish Lamb Mansaf a rice and lamb dish cooked in large pots, this is served with many dips and bread with fresh fruit for a sweet. Some of our group are stopping here overnight whilst the rest carry on to Petra.

      After our break here we carry on to see more of ...
