... of it and as a bike ride it is spectacular. So much so that I've canned riding the Transfrgarasan tomorrow as in comparison it will be boring. The DN67C is known as the Transalpine road, and as a road some parts for the most are in very good condition, however some parts just aren't there anymore. For some of it you are on the pegs, not too much though ...

... via Pitesti getting pretty wet in the process. That also explains the lack of pictures from our day but no doubt we'll make up for that as we go on.

On arrival in Curtea we pulled in at the first hotel we saw and secured a twin room for 100Lei which is about €25. Quite a reasonable rate and a perfectly functional room.

Dinner and a sampling of Romanian red wine awaits so ...

You had to see it to believe it....

Got up this morning with the intention of going to see Bran Castle, if you know your Count Dracula you'll know that this castle is sort of maybe if you squint the one referred to in the books. It isn't, there is some speculation that Bram Stoker had this castle in mind when he wrote the books but that's about it... the whole town trades of the link, it's a nice town but the castle is just a big house full of random bits of furniture they ...

Ever since our arrival in Romania, we have encountered multitudes of stray dogs and the occasional cat or kitten. Unfortunately, one of our riders suffered a fall after being chased by a dog in a small village (no harm done to rider or bike) but for the most part, the dogs have been either disinterested or quite friendly. At most of the coffee stops and lunch stops, there's been a "mascot" for us all to shower w/ affection and provide a couple of treats. ...

... I have to dig a little deeper to find some redemption. Yesterday the highlight of my day was stopping at a closed restaurant and convincing the proprietor to sell us some cold drinks. While there, we watched a Romanian cook on television using a caulking gun to stuff sausage casings.
