We woke up in the port of City of Ajaccio, on the West side of Corsica. Birthday boy Kevin was greeted and serenaded to a happy birthday by everyone!!!! No sleeping in......time for a walk down along the boardwalk.!!!!
After breakfast we caught the double decker bus for a 1 1/2 hour tour of the city. Josie took some photos of us as she said she would be the photographer ...
Left the Port of Propriano at 11am and sailed North up the coast of Corsico (still French )
and anchored on the way up to stop for a swim and lunch.
Beautiful water for swimming and very relaxing. No skiing though not today!!!
Sailed for about an hour and Arrived in the city of Ajaccio at 6pm.
Tonight was the night we would take the crew out to dinner. They have looked after us ...
... and the shutters on the windows added to the colonial feel of the place.
Corsica is a French island but the overriding influence seemed to be Italian in my opinion. Whilst the locals all spoke French, the food and architecture seemed more in keeping with a quaint Italian sea-side town than a French city.
Whatever the influence, we all fell in love with the place almost instantly. I think Barcelona ...
We awoke on this last day of the cruise to be coming in to Portoferraio! A beautiful clear day in the harbor of the Island of Elba. It is the islands largest city and because of its terrain many of its buildings are situated on the slopes of a tiny hill surrounded on three sides by the sea! This was the one and only day where we didn't stop off at any port. We certainly made the most of it :) A sleep in, a late breakfast on the terrace of the Collonade and then a massage for Libby @ 10:00.
