... was pretty unhelpful so we went to the tour operator in town with the big sign outside which proclaims "REGULAR BUS TO ARGENTINA". Upon our enquiry about aforementioned transport to Argentina the charisma free gentleman behind his dirty desk informed us the next bus was in September. Today is the 20th July.

After an early breakfast we boarded a covered boat owned by our hotel for a two hour ride to the Serrano Glacier. With our guide Nancho, Ernesto and captain Ivan we headed out on a trip which ultimately ends in failure quite often due to the changing water conditions. ... In 10 hours, we covered 50 kilometres into the wind. It was deeply grim stuff. The high point of the day was being invited into a French couple's camper van conversion, where they gave us soup, bread, tea, coffee and chocolate. After this, we wanted to give up and hitch, but no pick ups passed us. Both Jon and I were blown off our bikes, falling onto the ripio. We saw some rhea, but nothing else - no trees, just miles and miles of pampa and steppe. We finally reached ...
