    Preparation for the 5-day hike

A travel blog entry by dan_suprtramp on May 04, 2015

I took the early morning bus to Puerto Natales which is the 'assembly point' for all the hikers who go to Torres del Paine National Park to hike. And so I informed myself about the 5-day "W"-hike and did the necessary preparation which included buying the food I would need for the next days and renting the equipment I didn't ...

We don't have to dart in and out of traffic?! Ok enough for now... Hopefully some more interesting posts when we are in the park! Or maybe not as well be out exploring! Hope for good ...

The descend down took another 4 hours….turns out hiking down with a hurricane in your back is as difficult and dangerous as the way up ! But hey, we made it, safe and sound and after a long wait for the bus and a seemingly even longer bus trip we arrived back at Puerto Natales. The best part about the W was the fact that for ...

... at the forefront of our minds, having eaten soup and noodles for breakfast (we were out of porridge). On flat Tarmac, we had to push our bikes into the wind. After 17km, we stopped by a barn and waited ten minutes for a hitch. No luck. We continued on into a horrendous headwind and hail storm. At lunch, after five hours, we had covered just 40 kilometres. Having looked at the map, we knew that the road turned south, and that the headwind would turn into a crosswind. We ...
