... the lunch hour began. The builders came in in hordes. Seated, supplied with bread and wine followed by pasta and then time to get back to work. We moved on and later found a great pizza place. Pizzas are good here (unlike Rome). We then followed Fabio's advice and caught the ferry into Como. We spent the afternoon walking about the main part of the city - lovely old buildings, huge Duomo (surprise!!), partially unfinished waterfront, shops ...

    Milano, Milano

After our long trip from Chamonix we arrived pretty late in Milan. Even though our hotel was off the main circle we were able to spend that night near Duomo thanks to tram line 14. ... self service which was a fun novelty! We then made our way back through the cheaper shopping strip..but didn't find anything to buy as it was just that...cheap and poor quality! We walked through the back streets which was nice to get a look at the real Milan. We met back up with the group again at the main square where there was a big castle and beautiful water fountain surrounded with gardens so ...

    Milan at a glance

A travel blog entry by joyf on Oct 12, 2012

... we are in Milan. I was so tired and came back and crashed. When I woke up later, still exhausted, Harry informed me that one of the locks on the kids bag was not opening. We decided to go find somewhere to borrow a pair of pliers and get some dinner. No one had any and all the shops were closing fast. After 2 rounds around the block, we found a little cafe with beautiful people who ran it. We had a great old ...
