There is a Nespresso machine in our room so we got a couple of pods for Anthony and gave it a go. Except it wasn't hot enough for him, he said it was lovely.
This hotel is a 18th century Villa that belonged to the Porro family and has only recently become a hotel. It has painted ceilings and is filled with lovely old paintings We have a cruise on Lake Como tomorrow and then get to spend the afternoon in Milan and then another night ...

We were all quite sombre as we came down the stairs (Mark was quite happy about coming down the stairs for the last time!!) and walked our way back up onto the wall and to the train station. We arrived in plenty of time…validated the tickets Mark had purchased the day before and stood in the station coffee/bar (another of my favourites) and all had our last coffee together, then big hugs and a few tears goodbye before boarding ...
All wet in Varenna
... top the river emerges from a dark cave and then comes racing down the mountain at full force. My guess is that from the cave to Lake Como the distance is about a third of a mile. The water runs with such force that it churns through the rocks and appears to be all white...the its name.

Varenna: 5 croissants,3 bees, 2 milkshakes,1 pizza
... bees took special interest in my honey so we had to sort them out. Eventually, they buzzed away. They didn't sting anyone, I suppose they were just hungry, but even so, it was pretty annoying. However, that is not the only wildlife we encountered at breakfast. About half way through, a bird of prey flew by. It was absolutely beautiful.
