When we booked the house at Montefioralle , the web site showed "have a dinner with the family" . So we had booked a dinner for tonight last year. When we booked we didn't realize it was with Carla and Forese, our hosts. Simone, their son and our neighbours was to be our interpreter. When we met Simone and Katya yesterday I suggested that they come to the dinner too as it was family. Katya was worried their son Andreas would annoy us. He was a great kid, and we assured her they ...

... horribly lost trying to find the gelato place. After a good twenty, thirty minutes, Daniel came running up behind me and showed me where the place was. I got hazelnut soy gelato and mixed fruit sorbet. Again it was amazing. After we sat and ate our gelato we walked back to the hostel to get wifi and our stuff so we could both catch our trains out of Florence. I knew of a good vegetarian restaurant that was a two minute walk from the hostel so we went there and found out it was ...

So today we went to Il Duomo. For Real this time. We bought the Everything Pass, which was totally worth the ridiculous price.

Here's how it is: there is a gigantic dome on top of a gigantic building that is entirely decorated with three different kinds of marble (white, pink and green). The building was made in the 13th century, the dome in the 15th century and the facade was not complete until, I kid you not, the 19th.
