Not a lot to say about today
Last night was a heavy one and we were all feeling a bit worse for wear on getting up this morning. But we did make it to breakfast.
Because the weather was again beautiful we decided to stay another night and spend a bit of time on the beach.
... the National Art Gallery of Urbino, and Joy is doing a separate entry for this - she having spent almost six hours drooling over the building and its amazing art works. Even Michael's talents for turning a phrase blanched at the prospect of describing this to you!
As the day was so fine and sunny, and he had seen enough of the art, Michael decided to take a walk around the town, Literally around it, ...
... Where?......never saw those......must have missed some rooms...... Checked the map....yes....missed 4 rooms on the 2nd floor!!!!!!
Not sure how it happened but Michael would be on his own for the afternoon while Joy toddled back up the hill, up the two flight of stairs and tried to find the rooms she had missed (another €8!!) Eventually finding the small doorway halfway through one of the rooms she entered another dream state with ...
... Piazza has a great marble statue of Raphael, and Liam had to pay his respects of course, and then build his own little snowman (see the photos on face book) before trying his hand at tree hugging. Honestly, he seems to have more fun than we do sometimes!
We had an excellent lunch of local soup and wine in a cafe at the Piazza, and then back down the hill to the house where Raphael was born and first worked. This is mid 14th century, and though ...
... we seemed to be the only non nationals and the oldest people there...what harm....we were out to have fun and enjoy the experience and we double checked the menu as to what we fancied. Wine and water were brought to our table along with a basket of local bread, this was followed shortly after by a beautiful plate with crostini, salami prosciutto and a little dish of lemon sauce, all very yummy......It was at this point that we realised ...
