... we didn't have a lot of money they were very worried about us. When we arrived they give us 20 euro and made sure we would buy water and food. We were so thankful but forgot to ask their names. So with water and food in our hands we were looking for a place to sleep. After a while we met a Romanian family, who would offer us a place to sleep. We could stay in there house. It was a bit weird at first but we had ...

Quite a few people have asked us about the migrant issue in the Med and of course we are now sailing into waters where many thousands of migrants have been found. We were reminded of this because of a series of warnings we have received via our Navtex - a clever box that receives text messages about weather ...

    Easy trip to Marsala

Today an 'easy trip' to Marsala through the vineyards of Marsala. Only 60 kms and about 150 m up and down. Nothing compared to what has to come, but good to relax and take it easy.

... a big bottle of water and then noticed that we already passed the temple. No way we should go back since it was already too hot and too hilly yo go back. Moreover, on the second hill, the heat started to kill me and I had to walk the steep part of it. Too much pressure on the heart otherwise and with all the heat difficult to recover. A good lesson. Nevertheless a lesson for the next days.
So we biked through the baking heat, got ...

    Arrival in Sicily

... going on on the square in front of the restaurant. As usual in Italy, men very well dressed with designer glasses, suits and ties (30 degress yes!) and women in high heels and long dresses on coble stones. They seemed to have fun and we enjoyed watching the event.

Now preparing for tomorrow: a moderate trip of 70 kms to Nubia. Breakfast at 8 and then the first round in the tour of West Sicily.

    Keep you posted…
