Cruising the Mediterranean

Well, I lied. We didn't cruise around the Egadi Islands but we did cruise the Mediterranean. We set off from a pretty little fishing port called, Castellammare del Golfo (big name for a little town). We hugged the coast (mainland), cruising through the Zingaro Marine Nature Reserve, past the village of Scopello (on my itinerary for next visit to Sicily) and the faraglioni rocks to the very touristy town of San Vito Lo Capo.

... t worth me getting stuff to cook with just for one night, as i would have to carry it with me, so settling on fruit juice and yoghurt for breakfast, I went for a relaxing snooze by the sea.

In the evening i decided to go to the marina to a fish restaurant (la cambusa), where I has a trio of smoked fish and then an amazing seafood pasta dish using busiate, a typed of coiled pasta. Yummy!

Our drive today took us first to the town of Erice and then to the temple ruins at Segesta.

Erice is a wonderfully preserved medieval town on top of Mount Erice, 750 metres above sea level and overlooking the port of Trapani. Everything is uphill in Sicily! Getting out of the bus at Erice, I felt as though I could touch the clouds. We had 3 hours to explore Erice on our own. This was ...

... ago with help x. They are both here as friends, and apparently many other friends come to stay and help now and again.

The work is basically to do what I think needs doing... Help in the kitchen, helping to pull up weeds etc. Giodarno had to go to Palermo for 3 days, so when he gets back we will build a wall in the kitchen so that its not totally outdoors!
