Went to Bomarzo yesterday to go to the monster garden, where there are stautes that were carved from voclanic rock in the 1500's. It was expensive to get in and the statues weren't all that impressive. It was a pretty day though and we met a really nice Columbian professor that helped us find the bus station to get back to Viterbo, I got a proschetta ...

... unlike any other that we have seen. The façade is made up of mosaics and reliefs chiselled from marble. It was overcast and raining when we visited but what sun there was lit up the gold mosaics that form the artwork and images. We were fortunate enough to catch the tail end of sunflower season and took a break to get a closer look at the monsters! They stood at least as tall as me and some of the faces of the flowers were bigger than mine! I love this area! In the span of a few hours we have seen and ...

... Forget road rules… forget speed limits… forget double lines meaning no overtaking! They do all of that and more. The motorbikes are the worst! Overtaking on blind corners at lightning speed. And this isn’t even on the autostradas! This is Umbria, where the roads are incredibly narrow and incredibly windy. I was pretty nervous the first few days (and still grip the door handle on some of those hairpin bends), but Mikey is doing a fantastic job (and ...
