Hello Friends and Family,<br>Today started out much more calm and relaxed. It was a beautiful day, sunny and around 60. Spent a few hours looking around and walking the back streets with the locals. It was really amazing, the small streets and the thin people. The young lady doctor suggested us to stay in one of GB Hotels, a group of 5 structures, because she had been there and felt herself quite comfortable. We followed her advise and thanks to this casual meeting we have discovered one of the biggest and most important thermal resort of all Europe. ... over 5 miles. <br>A lot of people told us we'd visit Venice regularly over the next few years while we are stationed in Aviano....and I think they might be right. Venice is an enchanting place, and the food is pretty darn good as well.<br>Allen and I are hopeless romantics, so this place seems to suite us well. ;)<br>

On the way Once we hit Chiasso, and even more so, Milano, the train noise levels rose - can only mean one thing, we're in Italy! Well, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that Italy is friggin expensive...wowza. The thing that gets me the most is that you are charged an enormous service fee just to sit down at a restaurant (the service fee is usually equal, if not more than your meal itself). So yeah...in order to save what's left of my money I have not been living in what is even close to luxury. Buuuut, that's ok, because I'm backpacking, right? Italy is ...

All in all Venice is a beautiful town that is truly captivating and unlike any other town on this earth that I know of. It was quite an experience although I dont think its a place that is enjoyed as fully by yourself. The true magic and romantic appeal of the canal-side restaurants and gondollas is meant to be shared. Ill be back.
