Day 2: Few hours left in Venice

Day 2

Good morning Venice!!!

I woke up too early as I'm still used to Yerevan’s time. At about 8 o’clock the bells from the church near us began to ring. It was wonderfull, maybe for many of you it is usual but for me it’s something extraordinary, as there are no bell towers in Yerevan, and no ringing bells. Only in the main square and it is automatic, not real.

We went out of the room and felt the ...

Our first day in Venice

Hello Friends and Family,
Today started out much more calm and relaxed. It was a beautiful day, sunny and around 60. Spent a few hours looking around and walking the back streets with the locals. It was really amazing, the small streets and the thin people. The market was cool with the fresh fish, fruit, etc. We then had to use the restroom, aka "Toilet" which is something that is almost impossible! I think there ...

Unexpected honeymoon in Abano Terme...

... directly to Abano Terme, very easy and convenient. The young lady doctor suggested us to stay in one of GB Hotels, a group of 5 structures, because she had been there and felt herself quite comfortable. We followed her advise and thanks to this casual meeting we have discovered one of the biggest and most important thermal resort of all Europe. We arrived at the Hotel Due Torri where nice and gently staff welcomed us. They showed us up to the ...

Seeing Venice

... over 5 miles.
A lot of people told us we'd visit Venice regularly over the next few years while we are stationed in Aviano....and I think they might be right. Venice is an enchanting place, and the food is pretty darn good as well.
Allen and I are hopeless romantics, so this place seems to suite us well. ;)
Venezia (Venice), Italy

On the way Once we hit Chiasso, and even more so, Milano, the train noise levels rose - can only mean one thing, we're in Italy! I feel like I've been dropped from a children's storybook smack bang into David Rocco's La Dolce Vita. And it's beautiful - I love hearing all the "buongiornos" and "prontos" and "pregos", as well and all the other words that mean nothing but a melodic voice to me. Venice Venice is hard to sum up, and I suppose I don't really need to - it's been ...

When in Rome! ...and Venice

Well, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that Italy is friggin expensive...wowza. The thing that gets me the most is that you are charged an enormous service fee just to sit down at a restaurant (the service fee is usually equal, if not more than your meal itself). So yeah...in order to save what's left of my money I have not been living in what is even close to luxury. Buuuut, that's ok, because I'm backpacking, right? Italy is ...

... I was coming and wanted to impress me. How did I know it was a Terrapin? I guess you have to graduate from Maryland to find that out. All in all Venice is a beautiful town that is truly captivating and unlike any other town on this earth that I know of. It was quite an experience although I dont think its a place that is enjoyed as fully by yourself. The true magic and romantic appeal of the canal-side restaurants and gondollas is meant to be shared. Ill be back.

... station to get on another bus to take us to the airport. At this time, we were joking that it was nice to travel without have to remind anyone to remember everything - because we're usually the two that have to remind people to bring their flight number, passport, etc. Well, we get on the bus, and I'm joking that I brought my flight number, but then remembered...I don't have my passport. I have a copy of it, and Nichole says to me "va bene" in regards to ...
