... closeness of these cool places is really nice! We arrived at Lucca and immediately saw the walls we had heard about, they are very imposing, I am glad we were welcome to the city rather than invaders. The imposing nature of the walls disappears as you get to the top, the earth is built up to the walls and there is green grass and trees on the wall! It is a very pleasant area with a walking/Bike path on top and the locals were making use of it with people ...

... googled an Italian-English dictionary to look up some of the terms that come up in the listings over and over, so the mystery is lessened. There are kitchens and kitchenettes, terraces and gardens, etc and we suspect doppi servizi-double duty means studio with living room and bedroom combined not den or storage like in Van.

Now I am finally getting sleepy so I`ll close with one more thought, well a piece of advice really, if you`ll allow me a soapbox: ...

Even though I woke to a grey overcast sky that was threatening to rain it was not going to dampen my excitement of being able to hike these trails today!!!! Thunderstorms had been predicted and it looked like it too!!!







Had breakfast at the hostel for 3E of toast and breads with jam and got ourselves ready to head ...
