... to tell me that. I asked so many questions of so many different people until I was sure I was in the right place. Just to double, triple, quadruple check I asked a guy at the stop if I was really at the right place because his ticket looked like mine. He was a big guy with a beer and he was just tickled that I was American and had talked to him. On the bus ride he called everyone he knew and couldn't stop laughing hysterically at the "ragazza di ...

... one of the most special moments of our trip so far... a low fog, peace & quiet throughout venice... remarkable. Then as we were staying at such a nice hotel they put on a free water taxi to Murano, one of the islands where they do the glass blowing we were greeted by a man in a suit who gave us a personal guided tour... this is where we pretended we were high rollers.. discussing which room of the summer house would best ...
Venice, Italy hazieandleavo... through narrow passageways, I was lost again. But I spotted some arrows that pointed toward "Rialto", and after following them for a good distance, I finally was back at the crowded Rialto. On the way, I stopped in at a pizza place. They had really good thick crust pizza (it must have been an inch deep). Eventually I made my way back to the vaporetto and caught it to the next stop, the Accademia. This is a museum featuring a whole bunch of ...
Venice, Italy dig_swashb... the Italian afternoon break. Everything shuts down in the middle of the day (except tourist sights thankfully) and to follow suit, so did the hostel. By the time I was able to check in, I was pretty confident I was going to drain the hot water tank. Also got that taste of Western European prices back in my mouth. Bitter. I hadn't even come close to spending that much in one day before. However, by spending, I was able to ...
Venice, Italy johnabroad... into a nice one in the end though. I was alone and bored on what would be a 27 hour trip, but I ended up meeting several people who must have been the only 20 somethings on the ship who spoke English. We all made up a large group and got on well. We ended up ending the evening with a visit to the ferry's disco which reminded me of a smaller Greek version of what we have on the cruise ships. We all danced at one point, but the best part was when the young ...
Venice, Italy traciehowe... along canals and down little streets and it was pretty special.. ah my writing is pretty poor here. Its not really possible to write what its like being in Venice - you'll just have to come! Its surreal, and because it was such a rich city in the past it is full of beautiful buildings. The next day I went to the famous square and visited the palace of the doges. It was quite interesting, very over the top ...
