... those hills. Torture! Livigno is an interesting town. It was suffering from poverty so they decided to compensate for its isolation in a little pocket of Italy near Switzerland by making it a tax free zone. So we wandered the streets when we arrived and looked at the high class duty free stores. We got Mark some excellent running shoes, special sports socks and some aftershave - just in time for his birthday on the ...

    ... planning on having a
braai. Not to be since the moment the sun went behind the mountain the
temperature dropped below anything that is possible to braai in. The braai was
cancelled and we moved across to Stef’s house for an excellent cooked supper

So the warmup walk over, my tour guides, Stef and Corinne,
decided that a somewhat more challenging walk would be in order. So we jumped
onto a bus and headed out to a spot on the Julier Pass. From here we headed

which lies at an altitude of 2984 meters. The wind was screaming and it was
trying to rain. However the rain was turning to ice and we nearly ...

Camper sleeping always takes some getting used to. Altitude
doesn’t help either. Fortunately I was so tired that it didn’t matter.

We woke up to an overcast and cold morning and after a quick
breakfast Corinne and Stef decided that a warm up walk would be in order. The
definition of a warm up walk being a 14km walk in the mountains. I must say
    however that it was ...

... our camper van ready for the drive to the Engadin Valley
where we plan to stay for the next week. After an awesomely scenic drive,
featuring lakes and mountains, we arrived at our camp ground in Silvaplana.
After a quick shower we drove over to Stef’s house in Chamfer for a home cooked
meal with Stef and her boyfriend Jan.

Then back to the camp for a good night’s sleep.
