Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

After a couple of hours from the restroom next to Frank all that could be heard was “Grunt, Groan”. No flush. This could get serious. And it did. The temperature in the plane was warm. The odor coming from the restroom was strong. Frank complained to the stewardess and all ...

... and nocciola, Steven has mint and chocolate. There's not much time to visit another villa here, so we decide to skip it and head over to the next village. Varenna is really cute! It has a nice walkway along the side of the cliffs and water. We pass by little shops and restaurants and decide to eat in one of them. We keep it simple and just order 2 pizza pies. One has pancetta and onions and the other ...

... saw the stunning Duomo and main square. Our next full day was spent doing much the same, except this time we stepped up our attire a bit to avoid further stares (and brought the camera along for the duration). Our last night we were so sick of Italian food we had African food at a local café which was a delicious and surprising treat.

Italy was amazing, and all the places we visited were surprisingly different from one another.. but we were looking forward to our last European country.. ...
