    ... decorated with frescos on the roof. I loved the little square outside the church with the usual cafes and restaurants but also the local fruit shop. There were actually two stalls. Alone bigger one selling a variety of fruit and vegetables and another small stall with a lady that was selling what looked like zucchini flowers and I assume zucchini We walked down to the wharf and on the way past another Christopher Columbus statue that looked exactly like the one in Barcelona. ...

    ... time and linger in the great room and read the afternoon papers and then maybe head out in the late evening after the heat of the day and wander around the medieval streets of Genoa and sit down at a little cafe in a piazza and have a drink and then saunter back to the hotel, take a bath, lay on the bed again and read your novel.

    Which is kinda what Hugo did. I think it was one of his favorite hotel experiences ever. Pam, my sister, ...

    After breakfast we checked out of our hotel but left our luggage. We returned to the funicular to go to the top of the city. Alas, it was not to be. It was closed for repairs, indefinitely, or so the news kiosk guy said. No sign, no information on the door which contained to report the operating hours as is everything was as normal. Sheesh!
