... on the subway you kinda pretend that the people next to you are not there with no one saying hello or chatting. You have to be quite quiet and just sit still there is no running around and playing beach cricket like we do in New Zealand. About an hour was enough for us and we were off on our travels. When we got to Ancona we checked onto the big car ferry. It is a much bigger boat than the Inter Island ferry in New Zealand and more like ...

So after cancelling some of our plans and accommodation we were told there wasn't any availability for hotels for Mugello. We decided we'd go to Rossi's village Tavullia and then make plans from there.

I started searching for hotels again about an hour out of port and one place messaged back to say they had a cancellation and the price was very reasonable.

So here we are finally in Mugello seeing a GP race, staying in ...

Fascinating, I think the boys enjoyed it as well, especially as our guide, Marija, told lots of stories, one that comes to mind is, during the war in 1991, when they woke up one morning, their father found a grenade by the front door, it was a dud, did not go off, so he picked it up and threw it away, says they were lucky, would of blown ...

... And what a day we had! We had pizza and gelato while watching locals run along the beach in Speedos! If that doesn't say fun, I don't know what does!

We left San Benedetto at three o'clock. Our drive to Ancona was uneventful, and unlike our ferry experiences in Thailand, there was no chaos to fight with when getting on board. In fact, I think we may have been four of the maybe thirty people on board. The ship was empty. Our room was ...

On a recent lengthy drive in Italy, I had one of those weird and lucid thoughts that struck me as a huge and important realization. By the end of this trip, including last summer, and before the kids go off to camp this summer, Jenn and I will have spent approximately four hundred and fifteen days, 24/7 - 415, with Jack and Elizabeth. Oh, there have been a few luxurious hours where we've been free of the little darlings when various ...
