... on their tour of the champagne region. Delicious! We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which had tables outside by the lake. The meal was as delicious as the champagne had been. We then caught the ferry that we thought was going to Managgio which is on the opposite side of the lake, but it went back to Bellagio so it was an opportunity for me to change out of my wet shirt and get a jacket, of course this was also the signal required for the rain to stop and the sun to come out. ... back to the railway station, but we’ve fallen for the place just the same. I think the key is the unassuming way the town just gets on with being, while people like us come and go. The little piazza below our window is the only square in the town so it’s not only the place where people meet, but also a favourite spot for kids to run and do the things kids do.

... It was six hours and dragged along, even though I had two hour long naps. Niamh slept almost the entire time and missed all the best scenery. I read my book, ate, listened to music and stared out the window. We arrived in Verona around 7 and found our train to Milano, which was again delayed. That trip was much shorter and I had to keep waking Niamh up to make sure she didn't sleep so long ...
