Built originally as shopping arcade it's one of the oldest in the world, and has some shops and cafes from the original building time. It's also home of the oldest Prada store. ... we ended up there after dinner, three subway lines later, for sunset. I learned two important things my first day in Europe: (1) the world is incredibly difficult to navigate without internet access & (2) Kelly & I might as well have a stamp on our forehead that says "American" Overall, I really enjoyed Milan. Getting lost multiple times ended up being a blessing in disguise. We were able to see a lot of the city in the one day we had. Onto the next tomorrow AM, Praha! ...

... to see Puchini's "Turandot" but the rain squashed that idea. However just about fifteen minutes before curtain, it started to clear so I poked my head into the box office and got an 11th row seat. After a leisurely breakfast we caught a water taxi to the station,much quicker than the ferry, boarded our train and off we went.Arrived in Milan at 1,30 and were at our Hotel Sanpi by 2 pm,had a bit of a rest and went out for lunch and a look around.Found ourselves in the middle of the city where there are lots of old buildings and a statue of Leonardo DeVinci which is right near the beautiful old shopping plaza,pretty spectacular. ... Duomo. Then we headed back to the train station via the metro again.

We needed lunch so we ate at….wait for it…McDonald’s in the train station. What was different was they had “easy order” computer kiosks where you could place and pay for your meal without waiting in line. We went to a real person though.
